If you have this problem, there are some things you can do. One of the first things you should do is look into your water pressure. The ‘safe zone’ is 30-50 psi for your water pressure. If your water pressure is exceeding 60 psi for for any length of time, then that may lead to a problem. If you’re suspicious that you might have a leak but not positive where it is, here’s a straightforward way to find out. Find your water meter, view and record the level. Make sure nobody is using any water in your house for 1-2 hours. Then go back and note the level. If the level is different, then you likely have a leak. Definitely. Ensuring your garbage disposal is working efficiently is important. In order to get the maximum life of your garbage disposal, these items shouldn’t be put through your garbage disposal:

  • Potato skins
  • Bone fragments and eggshells
  • Banana peels
  • Fats / grease
  • Unpopped popcorn kernels
  • Onion skins
  • Fruit pits and seeds
  • Stringy vegetables like asparagus and celery
